365 days of the year, we are a natural skincare company. But there's one product, every single summer, that reminds us that bug spray can actually fall into that category.
That product is of course, WOODSY. Having soft, resilient skin is amazing. Add bug-bite-free to that equation, and what more can you ask for.
We’ve sold more than 1,000 bottles of WOODSY this summer—and counting. For a product that spends most of the year quietly waiting for its moment, summer 2026 has been quite the moment.
For a few months, WOODSY has even rivalled NOURISH Four-Season Moisturizing Serum, our year round bestseller, our pride and joy, and the bedrock of our skincare routines.
And perhaps the most interesting part? For many of the people buying WOODSY, it’s their first introduction to LAKE+MAIN.
The Product That Introduces Us
Between April 1 and August 21, 2026, 81.8% of WOODSY customers were brand new to LAKE+MAIN.
This means that WOODSY has the beautiful role of introducing many of you to our skincare for the very first time.
Someone needs something that works for mosquito season. They find WOODSY. They try it. They like the scent. They notice that it doesn't feel sticky. They take it camping, to the cottage, on a hike, or simply into the backyard. They don't hate reapplying it. They actually... look forward to it?
It's a testament to our formulation, effectiveness, and the sheer power of natural skincare.
Honestly, we can't think of a better introduction.
Why WOODSY Hits Differently
Let's start with the obvious: it doesn't smell like traditional bug spray.
WOODSY is made with lavender, lemongrass, cedarwood, peppermint, rose geranium, basil and clove bud—ingredients chosen for their aromatic qualities and their role in a botanical insect-repelling formula.
The funny part is that we love the smell. The bugs don't.
The formula combines witch hazel, aloe vera, hydrosols and glycerine with pure essential oils to create a lightweight spray that feels easy to use throughout the day.
And because WOODSY was designed for Canadian summers, it's made for the way we actually spend them: outside.
At the lake.
At the campsite.
On the trail.
In the garden.
Around the fire.
With our families.
But don't just take our word for it
This summer's customers have been pretty enthusiastic.
“I have a quick spray to my bare arms & clothing and not one bite happened.”
One customer even watched her husband learn the hard way after declining to use it:
“My husband, who said ‘no I do not need the spray’ was getting bite after bite.”
Another customer told us something we particularly love, and that we think pretty much sums up why WOODSY is so dang popular:
“I actually LOOK FORWARD to using this spray.”
That's not something you hear about traditional bug spray very often.
And then there's this one:
“I like the smell, I don't panic about getting it on my clothes or equipment... and it's very effective!”
We hear versions of these comments again and again: it smells good, it feels good, and people actually want to use it.
A Summer Ritual, Not Just A Bug Spray
Maybe that's why WOODSY has become such a phenomenon.
It's easy to think of insect repellent as something you tolerate because you have to.
WOODSY was designed to feel different.
It's something you can keep by the back door, throw in your camping bag, leave at the cottage, or carry with you on a summer walk.
Spray it on your skin and clothing, reapply as needed, and get back outside.
Because summer is short.
And we'd rather spend it enjoying the outdoors than swatting at it.
The Summer of WOODSY
More than 1,000 bottles sold.
Hundreds of new LAKE+MAIN community members.
And a whole lot of Canadians who apparently decided that smelling like lavender, lemongrass and cedarwood was a much better option than smelling like bug spray.
WOODSY is having a summer.
And judging by the reviews, we don't think it's finished yet.
